Take an Acting Exam!

Students memorise and rehearse two monologues – one set piece from a list provided by LAMDA and an ‘own choice’ piece. They are also prepared for the 'knowledge' section, at the end of the exam, when they are asked questions on the pieces they have performed. They're assessed on how well they demonstrate an understanding of the character and how they employ their voice and body to represent thoughts and feelings.

Take a Verse & Prose Exam!

Students memorise and recite two pieces - one poem and one extract from a novel. The students are also required to do 'sight-reading' by reading a text aloud that they've never seen before. Then, they answer questions about their pieces and literary devices. It fits nicely with English studies at school. Students are assessed on their understanding of the content of the pieces and how they use their voice and body to communicate the writers meaning, mood and intention.
